today is the birthday of two extremely important people in my life.

jen kerr

one of my best friends since freshman year, we have lived together, laughed together, cried together, and done pretty much anything you can imagine together [really though]. jen and i became roommates by pure chance which, looking back, never seemed to be chance at all. she has blessed my life in countless ways. and by countless, i mean i literally cannot count them. but i shall name a few:

- teaching me how to be a good student

- giving me rides to places slash letting me borrow her car sophomore year

- going to cafe rio whenever i felt that particular need

- teaching me that it's ok to be positive about everything. and i mean everything.

- exposing me to the wonder of a true two minute shower [i still don't understand how she does it.]

- reading your scriptures everyday and praying morning & night is totally doable.

- running long distances is cool.

jade arrington

jade is my sister-in-law. and without even seeing her read this i know she is totally hating me right now for putting this picture on here. well jade, that's what happens when you don't let me take pictures of you. i have to turn to the professionals.

i've known jade since i was 12 and loved her the instant i met her. it's crazy how much closer we've become, especially over the last few years since she and my brother [plus the children] moved to st george. she is one of the funniest, strongest, most beautiful people i know and i feel so blessed to call her my sister. it's pretty much a one-sided relationship because i get to laugh and have so much fun with her and i offer nothing in return. one day when i'm rich i'll buy her lots of clothes and then feel worthy to be in her presence. here's just a taste of our fun times:

- one time she was making meringue for a pie while my parents were gone and she told me she was going to put it on gina's face. she called gina to the kitchen and then decided to wipe it all over my face. cue all out meringue war. the three of us got so crazy sticky and matt was super mad that we made a mess. then we washed off in the pool. good memory.

- jade introduced me to the straightening iron. when she first visited us, i woke her up at like 6 to straighten my hair before school. i'm sure she wanted to slap me for that multiple times and probably would if i tried it now. bahahaha.

- one time we were all in the car with her siblings and she asked if anyone wanted a surprise. duh i wanted a surprise. so i yelled 'i do!' and stuck out my hand which she proceeded to put a tampon in. nice. ps i was sitting next to her super cute brother [who is now married] and we were 15. thanks jade.

- one time we ran together in the mornings for like a week. then she got pregnant with laken. so that ended.

- jade has these glasses that are missing a lens but she still wears them when she drives or watches a movie. one time we were driving somewhere and talking about something semi important and then i looked over while she was talking, saw the glasses, kind of smiled but trying really hard to hide it, just kept nodding my head and listening. then she said 'you're looking at my glasses aren't you?' and i completely lost it. she totally called me out and we died laughing.

happy birthday jade! ohmygosh you're so old.

i'll be thirty. and that's pretty much the only sure thing i know. and most likely graduated from college. hopefully i can be married with two, maybe three kids. i'd like to be settled in a house somewhere, no where in particular, maybe the east coast. that really is my dream. give me the man i love and the kids i love and i'm good.

anyway. brandon decided that while the killers are taking a break [don't worry, not a permanent one], he would make a solo album. and that he did.
sadly, it doesn't come out until september. but, he did come out with a single last monday [the 21st. aka his birthday. aka the day after my birthday. aka we're meant for each other].
so here i am. sharing it with you [because i obviously bought it the second i knew it was available. without even previewing it. and i love it].

don't worry, there will be a follow up post come september about the whole album and brandon flowers in general. word.

my sister introduced slash got me obsessed with this show at the most opportune time of my life (no i did not watch seven episodes on sunday when i should have been studying for my living prophets final). 

i may have deleted fb, but now i have mr. don draper to distract me.

but. do i really have to convince you to watch it after you've seen this face?

so... remember my rob rave a little while back? i mentioned in passing that i had a "woman crush" on kristen stewart... yes. yes i did.

so. since it is her 20th birthday and this is my 200th post, i decided to expound on that exclamation.

i first saw dear kristen in speak (which is a great book too, if you haven't read it) and i think she did so well in it. i think that was like 6 years ago... idk. i don't remember in what order but i also saw her in zathura (with my little bro) and in the land of women (adam brody. beautiful). then she graced our presence with a mini cameo in jumper (hayden christensen. yummm). i also caught her in a glimpse of catch that kid.

and of course. we all know her as our dear frenemy bella swan from twilight slash new moon slash the upcoming eclipse (who's excited? i'm excited. here's the trailer). she's actually exactly who i thought they should cast for bella. yes. that was a proud moment for me, finding out she was going to play her.

i've just always loved her. maybe it's because her total 'b a' attitude. maybe it's her sense of style (i only wish i could pull off a t shirt and jeans everyday and look totally hot). maybe it's her taste in music (she picked the iron & wine song for twilight. i.heart.iron&wine).

actually. i'm pretty sure it's her hair. yes. definitely. i love her hair (remember? i have a hair fetish. maybe i should do a post about hair...). seriously. if i had to choose some other person's hair to have for my own (i love my hair so i wouldn't willingly give it up...vain? maybe. oh well), i would choose hers.
it just does whatever the crap it wants and it always looks awesome.

i really like her eyes too. some people think they look drugged up all the time but i think it's just catching her in a bad pictures (see my rob rave for more details of this phenomenon). she pulls off the smokey eye look really well. and her eyes are green too!
omg. we have so much in common. we should tots be besties.

i really do like her as an actress as well. the roles she plays are the down to earth, who gives a crap, just trying to live life characters. just because she isn't super dramatic or loud doesn't mean she isn't a good actress. and a lot of people just revert back to the twilight movies as well.
remember: those are not her only films. just sayin.

if could choose an actress to meet and be potential besties with, i would definitely choose kristen. i feel like we would get along really well. and she could teach me her ways of awesomeness.

i know that a lot of people don't like her for various reasons, but this is my opinion and if you're up for open mindedness, i would highly suggest giving her a second chance.

p.s. i really really want to see the runaways. real bad.

tennessee is full of really cool people, i've decided.

me and sarahmaines have played with the idea of taking a road trip out there a couple times. my brother and sister-in-law have lived in nashville for a few months now (what, since september?) and i have been dying to see their cute cute house.

but this girl also lives out there in tennessee as well. her name is chelsea and i have a feeling we would be absolute besties if we lived near each other. sarahmaines and i always discuss reasons that we would/could/should be best friends with her.

and top of her being awesome, she is doing this fabulous giveaway! honestly, if i had a hold of everything in the package, i would not be giving it away. no no.

sarahmaines and i are bringing back the 70's. don't even worry about it.

my family came in town for their spring break (which i guess i'm counting as mine? silly byu and their no spring break deal) so last night my snister gina and sarahmaines and i went to 'remember me'.

here i start my rob soapbox. you can stay if you'd like, lover or hater.

i'm not gonna lie. when gina called me at work in december of 2007 and told me the cedric from harry potter was going to represent my edward cullen, i was nothing short of shocked. i had to readjust and accept this news, but i'm a pretty laid back and accepting person so it didn't take too long. now, less than three years later (wow i feel like it's been longer) i am completely faithful by his side.

don't you fret. i am not a jacob/taylor hater. in fact, i had taylor in mind for jacob from the get go, i just thought he was too young (i kept thinking sharkboy). but boy was i proven wrong. if he isn't the essence of gorgeous adolescence, i honestly don't know what is. and i used to not be the biggest fan of jacob either, but after reading the series a second time, i got over that silliness quickly. that being said though, i am still an edwarder (is that a term i can use?).

but. i am not here to talk about edward (though we all know i easily could. for a very very long time). i am here to talk about robert pattinson. contrary to popular belief, they are not the same person. shocking, i know. it is actually sad that people always revert back to twilight when they think of rob since it's gotten such a bad rap (for what reason, i don't know).

i am here to tell you that rob is a great actor. yes. it's true. he did so great in 'remember me'. and before that i saw him in 'how to be', also really great. so please. give him a chance. it's not completely his fault that he will forever be seen as edward (which should be a good thing, i don't know why it's not).

and on account of his looks. i think he is to die for. it's ok if you don't. but don't blame his pictures (i'm talking to you jessica mains). i don't know about you but i look weird in about 80% of my pictures, they just don't show up all over the world.

p.s. you might not know this about me (yet) but i have a thing for hair. it's kind of overpowering. let's just say that i love rob's hair so much it's painful that i can't run my fingers through it. i literally feel pain. true story.

she is an amazing photographer. senior pictures. family pictures. even engagements and a wedding. not only does she have this successful business but she also does some awesome artistic photography. she has an amazing ap studio art portfolio.

one of my favorite movies that i've been watching since i was three. even after years of not seeing it i know each inflection of each line given. i highly recommend it. it's pretty much my favorite shakespeare play. if you need a good laugh, some eye candy, and some intellect all at the same time, i highly recommend it. seriously, such a great cast: denzel washington, michael keaton, kate beckinsale, emma thompson, kenneth brannagh, keanu reeves, robert sean leonard.

yesterday in one of my film classes we were talking about directors and we watched three clips from three different baz luhrmann movies. he is seriously so great. i love all of his color saturation and interpretation on normal, everyday things. if you havent seen any of his films, repent, and go watch one. i would highly recommend moulin rouge, romeo + juliet, and australia. i have yet to see strictly ballroom but i have seen some clips and it looks like a typical baz film. which is a good thing.
