truth.

things that take priority over showering:
- sleeping.
- eating.
- deep thinking.
- watching [insert show i am currently addicted to].
- exercising.
- staring at my ceiling.
- urgent engagements [would be late to work/class].
- watching killers/brandon flowers music videos.
- tumblr/twitter/blogging.
- being lazy.
- debating whether to shower or not.
- figuring out ways i can make my hair look decent without showering.

things that take priority over sleep:
- last week of class/finals week..

things that take priority over getting massive papers done in a timely manner:
- anything on the internet that is slightly interesting.
- looking at people.
- standing up.
- walking around.
- thinking about how much faster i could get done if i focused.
- looking at the cute boy in front of me.
- trying to see if there is a ring on his finger.
- watching 'the office' on someone else's computer.
- listening to girl talking on the phone very emotionally next to me.
- laughing at guy on the other side of me who is annoyed at the girl on the phone.

this is all truth. all the time.
and this describes exactly what is happening right now.

my [almost] horror of a day.

you may have noticed the lack of posts and creativity the past couple days. i apologize. i was pretty much waiting until today was over to do anything besides study, eat and sleep.

today was the last day to take both my accounting and stress psychobiology midterms. i've been trying to study for accounting as much as possible so i put off taking both of them until today. i decided in my head that i would study a bit in the morning, go to work from 9 to 3, study a bit more for accounting, take the exam, then study for stress psych and then take that exam [let's not talk about how i also had to write a paper by 11 tonight #iheartcollege].

anyway, it was about 1:20 and i asked my coworker if he had taken the accounting test yet. he said yes. i asked how it went. it went well. how about you? i haven't taken it yet. really? i think it ends at 2. no it doesn't. i'm pretty sure it does. we look it up. it does. ...oh suck.

so after a desperate laugh and plea with my boss to let me leave, i scarf down the amazing sandwich i made as i speed walk to the testing center. i look over my notes for about ten minutes and then go in to take it at 1:45. it took me about two hours and i did better than the first one [which isn't saying much ha] and i left in a daze, not wanting to start studying for yet another exam. i mean what is this, finals week?!

i called my sister and told her about this ridiculousness that is my life and as we were talking she helped me realize that it was actually a crazy blessing that i found out about the deadline right in time. can you imagine what would have happened otherwise? i would have worked until 3, studied for a few hours then gone to take the test and i would have been rejected, not being able to take the test at all plus wasting all that time i could have spent studying for my other test. i'll tell you right now, i would have shattered into a thousand pieces if that happened.

after i got off the phone i went into the library and studied for my stress exam. it took me longer than expected to study for it so, hi, yet another crazy blessing that my accounting test had a deadline. even if it didn't, i don't think i would have had enough time to study for and take it and then study adequately for my second exam, plus bust out my paper on time [which i totally did, what up].

let's just say today was a whirlwind of craziness in which i realized that, as much as i feel like my life is out of control and i have no idea what is happening ninety percent of the time, heavenly father does and he has what he knows as my best interest in mind and as long as i'm doing what i know is right, he will help me out in every way necessary to accomplish the things i must accomplish.
...ye should serve him who has created you from the beginning, and is preserving you from day to day, by lending you breath, that ye may live and move and do according to your own will, and even supporting you from one moment to another...

sigh.

we've seen this before. and it's happened again.

ahlin wants to watch tv show.
ahlin never watches tv show.
years later ahlin decides to watch tv show.
ahlin gets addicted to tv show.
ahlin puts off important things to watch tv show.
just kidding. just sleep.
ahlin finishes season one in four days.
ahlin always thinks about tv show.
ahlin gets made fun of for loving tv show.
ahlin doesn't care.

gilmore girls. house. lois & clark. how i met your mother. friends.
now. prison break.

i have wanted to watch this show since it started in 2005. but alas. my mom made the smart rule that we couldn't watch tv during the week. but now that tv shows online rule the world [and my life] i am finally catching up on my need to watch list [with a little nudge from my friend lauren:]

and oh my gosh. it is so good. better than i imagined. and addicting. and brilliant. and scary. but not too bad. but super suspenseful. and crazy. and makes me react in very dramatic ways. like yelling 'no!'. or covering my mouth in shock. or staring blankly in 'oh my gosh....'. etc. netflix watch instantly has become my best friend. thank you niki.

oh yeah and did i mention that this guy is the star? and that he's brilliant? and sensitive? and he throws away his entire life to break his brother out of jail? and he makes jail clothes look good? and he has a full body tattoo? and he can make origami swans? and his voice makes angels stop in their tracks? true story.

four years time.

i got ferris bueller's day off for my sixteenth birthday.
on that day, i became friends with a guy in my grade named alex lark.
he said he loved that movie.
i said i did too.
we decided we needed to watch it together.
then junior year started and we kept reminding each other of the ferris plan.
but it never really came together.
senior year we would still bring it up, but no time was ever decided.
we graduated high school.
ok, we said, we really have to watch it now.
but alas.
i went off to college and alex went to australia for his two year mission.
with no ferris.
time passed, we wrote each other once or twice and then it was forgotten.
then. alex got back from his mission in september and came up to byu in january.
i got his number from a friend, we had dinner and caught up for a couple hours. it was nice.
then, the next day, it hit me.
i had completely forgotten about the ferris plan.
i texted him and he said he remembered that and we needed to make it happen.
and make it happen we did.

four and a half years later, we finally watched 'ferris bueller's day off'.
and it was perfectly hilarious.
high five, sixteen year old ahlin.

the honest truth.

this is what happens with you take accounting 200 and econ 110 in the same semester:
you end up keeping your clean clothes on your bed when you sleep because you have no time to put them away.
not a proud time for me right now.

here we go again

saw these provo natives at smith's last night. and by saw, i mean we were all in the produce section. grocery shopping.

it totally pays to procrastinate getting groceries until the last possible second.

'i decided to watch friends this morning instead of shower'
look.
hair pulled back in a miraculous bun [and totally not greasy...]
super flattering jeans [ha.]

my new flats that are targets version of toms [if only i had the real deal.]

i wonder if victoria b would approve...

late nights are usually up to no good.

it's almost one. i should be asleep. i want to get up and study and run and clean. before i go to work. at one.
so i should go to sleep.
oh well.
i just had a few things crash down on my brain in the past few hours.
one. i've had four of some of my closest friends get engaged in the past three weeks. that's a lot. to me at least. i'm losing friends by the hand full. and i'm happy for them. i really am. no sarcasm here. i promise. you girls are beautiful and i approve [not that you need it] of your choices. i saw them all through remember?
two. was i wrong to delete facebook? that decision has been stabbing me in the back as of late.
three. my ipod [which isn't actually mine, it's my mom's that she let me borrow to take to college since my mini {yes. mini. not nano} wouldn't play without being plugged in] died today. as in it will not turn on. at all. i've tried every trick i know of. nothing. sad.
four. the song in my head right now is my love by sia. it's on the new eclipse soundtrack [which is good btdub, kinda like the new moon soundtrack but not quite as depressing]. except this song makes me sad for some reason. i don't know why. but it's on repeat. on my computer. since my ipod isn't working. how am i supposed to fall asleep to it?
five. i think i need to be more like this list.
six. "ahlin, just go pray until you feel better." sound advice from stuart dong [the gray haired asian].
seven. seriously. go find and watch this movie. right now. i promise you'll love it. i think i'll watch it tomorrow [today].
eight. i'm turning twenty on sunday. my golden birthday. which is also father's day. and a sunday. and all my friends are leaving for home. cool.
nine. i like this picture.
thanks for my thinking slash pity party.

who knew.

i think i need to invest in some enya.

i've been listening to her from other people's itunes, the ones that show up on the sidebar.

she's so great. enya and i go way back.

and now i've discovered that she helps me concentrate and focus on my studies like nothing else.

i wonder why.

i've never tried listening to her while studying before.

that will change. now. fo sho.
she reminds me of my momma.

so long. so long.

yeah so i totally deleted my facebook account today.

well. deactivated it.

that means if i log back on, it all comes back.

but. this is my stand. against... i don't even know.

i just feel like if someone wants to get a hold of me or see what i'm up to, they have three different options:
  1. my phone (unlimited texting yo)
  2. my blog (really though)
  3. my email (i'm on there all the time for school anyway)
this is my attempt to be more mysterious and find out what people are like in person rather than their facebook profile.

don't worry. i'm not an fb hater. i's coo if you have it. i was a hard core user for three years.

i think we'll see if i like being facebookless after finals...

friday vids. because i like 'em.

i have a few videos that i think are pretty fly right now. and since i have a knack for procrastinating (no i do not have a 4 to 6 page humanities paper due at 9 am tomorrow that i have yet to finish... and it's midnight... at least i started right?) i shall share them with you.
oh you are welcome.

if you haven't heard, andrew lloyd webber (bless his creative soul) wrote a sequel to phantom called love never dies and me being the huge phantom phan (clever.) that i am (wrote gerard butler a letter when i was a freshman. yeah.) i heard about it in october and i will see it sometime in my life. yes. i will.
anyway, this is a song from it sung by the guy who plays the phantom in london. he's rather attractive, no? and his voice... it's like taking a shower in a rich chocolate fountain. yum.
so i'm kind of a huge jobros fan (don't be hatin') and a huge demi fan (seriously. how cute is she?!) so when i found out her and joe were dating... let's just say it is about two years too late (camp rock anyone?). and i don't watch american idol but of course i sought out their duet today! ugh, they are so great. and joe's hair? to die for.
so this is from sarahmaines' blog (which you should totally check out btdub cause she's way cooler than me) and i just think it is the hottest thing ever. am i completely out of the loop for not knowing about this?
so i got this from the lovely fashion blog, cardigan empire. it's an interview with the author of how to be hepburn in a hilton world which i have totally heard of and been wanting to read (after school... whenever that is.) and i just think she is so cute! and i really like a lot of what she has to say. so ch ch check it out.
and finally. my friend keaton jolley (or kj, if you will) has a podcast that he updates every so often. and i think it is somewhat hilarious. this one is my favorite. but here is his most recent podcast, as of monday. maybe you have to know him. maybe not. let him know what you think here.
um... yeah that's pretty much it for now. have a great friday slash weekend! :)

if i could describe my life in one post...

my film application was due at 12 pm.
what up. four minutes to spare.
plenty of time.
it reminds me of he's just not that into.
i just need some drama in my life. apparently.
ha. ha. no.

all i do is win.

after months of preparation
and a cramming session the night before,
complete with ben & jerry's phish food and some lykke li
i've finally finished
my film minor application.
what. up.

p.s. here's the deal with my internships: if i don't get accepted, i'm staying in p town. and buying a car.
either way. i win. yes. that is me beating the system. word.

so many thoughts.

many thoughts monday? no, i'm too scared to start segments, i don't think i could keep up!
anyway, i do have some things i want to cover...
1 - thank you chelsea for giving me (along with some other lovely ladies) the happy 101 blogger award! that is so great! i've never gotten a blog award before :D
2 - ok i thought this was kinda crazy cool, but while i was taking pictures of it people were looking at me weird. i saw a black duck today. yes. a black duck. is it just me or are there no black ducks in this world? it blew my mind. and i don't even like ducks. i'll post a picture of it later...
3 - i am so lucky to live so close to family. i have three sisters up here and a grandma, plus my house is a short three hour drive. i got to spend some time with my oldest sister kendall this weekend. we went and saw alice in wonderland (which i liked. so colorful! not a kid's show though...). it was so good to see her!
4 - my friends are pretty cool. we have bonfires. and we watch movies. and we give hugs. and we laugh. a lot.
5 - smelling good is better than looking good. i've decided.
6 - i love getting my monthly card from my father. sometimes his handwriting is the best thing i could possibly lay eyes on.
7 - my mother gave me tonsss of quarters. for laundry. i rather be spending them on a gumballs in a gumball machine. but it's cool.
8 - i heart the killers. still.
9 - the song alice by avril lavigne (yes. i'm a avrilover.) from the almost alice soundtrack is a new fave.
10 - i should be writing a paper right now. mah bad...

thanks for stopping by! feel free to follow me and comment so i can check out your blog! :)

cleanliness. it's nice.

we have been needing to do the dishes. for like the past two days.
so i decided it was high time for me to do them (i've been slacking lately. i'm not gonna lie). and our sink was just so colorful with our [dirty] dishes i couldn't help but take a before and after...
don't you just love the feeling right after you clean and your home looks amazing?
too bad life happens and that only lasts for .2 seconds! :)

friends in high places.

i may have put off important things (a paper. and sleep.) to do this. but it was sooo worth it.
this is my friend rob. rob is in my fhe group (yes. that means i'm his mother. hush). rob is from st louis. rob is freaking hilarious (as is the rest of his apartment). rob has super curly hair. rob has never straightened his hair before.
so, naturally, sarahmaines and i took it upon ourselves to do it.
with the help of adam ruri and matt young.
it was awesome.

pre straightening awesomeness.

somehow the guys took over...
rocker rob
rob is really excited about his straight hair.
creeper mccreep
the slick combover. hawt.

clark kent/superman curl. even more hawt.

how to avoid being productive by being productive.

i should have done homework today.

but. i didnt.

i'm seriously so great at this procrastinating thing. instead of doing homework, i:
  • ate breakfast.
  • talked to sarahmaines about a potential movie project. yes.
  • wrote down all my assignments due next week (a good start).
  • wrote down my assignments in my planner for the rest of the semester.
  • ate lunch (usually doesnt happen on saturdays).
  • cleaned my room (it needed to be done. desperately.)
  • took a shower.
  • cleaned the bathroom.
  • painted my nails... for about an hour and a half.
  • got ready.
  • bloggin.
i accomplished so much and yet... i feel like i've done nothing all day.

awesome.

pure torture

i miss the sun. i want it back.
it was here yesterday. it felt so wonderful. i stood outside the hinckley center for about five whole minutes just soaking in as much as i could before i had to go into work.
can't wait for summer...
